Create Memory Markers

stone-01What did Joshua do to help the people remember how God worked a miracle when they crossed the Jordan River (Josh 4:1-9)? He had them remove twelves stones from the dry river bed to create a monument on shore.

That this may be a sign among you, that when your children ask their fathers in time to come, What mean ye by these stones?  Then ye shall answer them…

Whenever someone in the future asked about the monument, those who had seen the miracle could retell the story.

As a leader, what can you provide to help people remember past victories and keep the vision in mind?

I remember the Scripture which says to renege the rock from which we were hewed. It’s easy to forget past victories when wetter so focused on present difficulties. I created a short video for my church called Tried & Triumphant to help them remember some of the things God brought us as a group. It was very helpful for them.

Thought I’d share this quote. 12 God’s way leads sometimes right through every brier patch, right up over the hills, down through the rugged places: sickness, trials; but God brings them more than victorious through them all.
