Do you judge yourself before you judge others (Mat 7:1-5)? Here are some reasons that is a good idea:
- It prepares you for the final judgment.
- It helps you keep things in perspective.
- It prepares you to better serve others (seeing your own problems gives you the insight to help others).
Think of ways you can be sure to judge yourself before judging others.
What do the following verses say about not judging compared to judging righteously?
JUDGE NOT
JUDGE RIGHTEOUSLY

I need to engage in more of this. I’m very self critical, but I can also be critical of others, and sometimes when I am critical, tact is lacking. I most always feel bad after critizing, (and I’ve gotten better about it over the years,) but this is a good reminder to pursue being more spiritual, and also look to the word of God more, which I haven’t done at all since going to Church when I was younger, but something I’ve been thinking I could use now.

Interesting that the Bible speaks of both. Not judging and judging. In a world that accuses Christians of being judgmental, it is so important to recognize that we are to judge righteously after judging ourselves carefully.

Absolutely. There seems to be much confusion on this topic for many people.

Very good food for thought : ) self reflection and judgement provides a better foundation with which to view the world.

I agree. That might be one reason some of us are drawn toward story characters who are introspective.

I appreciate how you mentioned the importance of ‘judging ourselves first.’ When I studied Christian counseling, there was a strong emphasis on how, in any situation where we may need to ‘confront’ someone, we need to be careful to take the log out of our own eye first! 🙂

I guess it’s true that you can only truly judge someone else when you’ve judged yourself first!

The challenge is that judging ourselves appropriately is a challenge. BTW, your temporary Welcome page is one of the most unusual I’ve seen. It made me laugh and also ponder 🙂

Haha. I took the help of a friend and she has like the best sense of humour. :’)
Keep laughing and pondering, please? Those are the best things in life and I love it when I’m the reason for it 😁
Yep, judging ourselves is really hard but also very necessary!

Nice summary of judgment. I like that you shared righteous judgment. So many forget that there are times when it is right. We are told to speak truth in love and to admonish our brothers and sisters when there is need to reroute. However, we must do so with pure hearts! Look forward to reading more!
