How do you build trust? When you prove to people that you will do everything in your power for their good and nothing for their harm, they begin to trust you.

Paul was able to earn the trust of others. When Paul was on ship as a prisoner, he was under the authority of a centurion named Julius (Acts 27:1). Though the centurion would pay with his life if Paul ran away, the centurion allowed Paul to leave the ship to get medical care from Luke. Paul’s friends did not abandon him when he became a prisoner. Even the people who had placed Paul in prison thought he was trustworthy (Acts 24:23).
