Have you ever chosen to suffer? Why? Were any of your reasons similar to the reasons that Jesus chose to suffer?
- Jesus knew the extent of the suffering that He was about to experience. In spite of that, He chose to suffer because His Father asked, John 6:38, Luke 22:42. Motivation = obedience.
- Jesus chose to suffer because it was the only way to save us, John 3:16-17, John 10:17-18. Motivation = love.
- Jesus was willing to suffer to gain the joy of bringing forth eternal life, John 12:24. Motivation = joy.
