Elisha met a woman who was destitute, (2Kgs 4:1-7). He knew she had been faithful to God. She cried out to him because her husband was dead and she had no money to pay her bills.
The creditor was threatening to take her sons for slaves to pay the debt. All she had was one jar of oil. Elisha told them to borrow as many empty jars as they could, then pour oil from the one jar to fill the empty ones. Once they were filled, he told her to sell the oil to pay her debt and live off what was left.
- How can emptiness be helpful?
- When you’re empty, your need for God is more apparent.
- If you’re sensing distance from God, you may need to empty yourself to give Him room to work in your life.

A lovely analogy. God can’t fill you if you’re too full of yourself!!
