As a leader, you can delegate a task and the authority to execute the task; however you are responsible for that delegation.
Zedekiah, the king, didn’t want to go against the wishes of the princes who were angry with Jeremiah.
The king delegated the authority to them to do whatever they pleased with Jeremiah, Jer 38:1-6.
He operated out of fear instead of doing the right thing.
- Delegation can be a helpful way to develop people and enable them to use their God-given gifts.
- It’s not a tool to use out of fear or to attempt to avoid responsibility.
On your own power, it’s difficult to sacrifice your interests to do the right thing. That’s why the wise move is to always ask God what He wants you to do and then do what He says. Ask Him what He wants you to delegate.
