The wisemen brought three gifts to Jesus, Mat 2:11.

How do these gifts picture who Jesus is and what He did for you?

  • Gold pictures the deity of Christ. It keeps its integrity under great pressure.
  • Frankincense pictures the sacrifice of Christ. To get the sap for frankincense, you must wound the Boswellia Carteri tree. The resin weeps out and hardens into white tears.
  • Myrrh pictures the death of Christ. To get the sap for myrrh, you must wound the tree. The resin weeps out and hardens into red tears.

Think about how these point to who Jesus is and what He did for you. Praise Him!

  • Think of gold and acknowledge that Jesus is God Almighty. Praise the Lord Jesus for who He is.
  • Think of frankincense and acknowledge the sacrifice Jesus made for you. Praise the Lord Jesus for His sacrifice.
  • Think of myrrh and acknowledge that Jesus died to pay for your sins, then resurrected. Praise the Lord Jesus and confirm that you accept His gift of payment for your sins and have made Him the Lord of your life.
