Can we minister to God? Is that even a thing? See Acts 13:2 where a church ministered to the Lord. Our next question becomes, “How could I minister to the Lord?”

One way is through prayer. God wants to have a relationship with you, something that is consistent, private, relational, and valuable to both you and God. Jesus tells us:

  • that making a public spectacle of your prayer is not what pleases Him, Mat 6:5
  • that praying in private, directly to God, is what ministers to Him, Mat 6:6.
  • that repeating a canned set of words is not real communication with Him, Mat 6:7

Jesus gave us a sample prayer, Mat 6:9-13. Remember, the intent is not to simply repeat it. Look at the tips He gives you. Take those into account as you talk to God, share your heart, and, thereby minister to Him.

You have the opportunity to minister to God throughout the day as you silently pray to Him: praising Him, thanking Him, lifting others up in prayer as you think of them, sharing your heartfelt needs with Him, letting Him know that you want things done His way.

Are you ministering to God through prayer?
