Read Philemon 8-21. Notice the tone that Paul used to make his request.

  • What can we learn from this example as we interact with others?
  • Did Paul use his position to leverage influence or did he use his character?

What are true leadership qualities? True leadership comes from the character of the leader, not from position or title. As a leader, are people following you because they have to or do they follow willingly because of your character?

“As a leader, are people following you because they have to or do they follow willingly because of your character?”

That is definitely the question for today. But at times, I must admit, hard to decipher. In today’s day and age, many follow leaders because of charisma, personality, or similarities. Many today follow leaders who make them feel good or affirm their american pursuits with the prosperity gospel. However, I do believe it is character we should be looking at. Not just following someone because they have the position or title but we see their hearts. We don’t look to the outward appearance but to the inward heart of man, as God did with David. I do believe the leaders of today won’t be the most popular but rather the most faithful. Great thought provoking and engaging bible study.

You really hit the nail on true leadership. It is in the Character not the title.
