Emotions are subjective reactions which can be subtle or intense.

They are not ideas. They are internal responses.

Your emotions can serve as a signal that something needs your attention. Consider how to manage contentment and satisfaction.

CONTENTMENT: sense of well-being (1Tim 6:6-7).

Be grateful. Recognize that “happiness” is a poor goal for adults. The important things in life require some sacrifice and conflict.

SATISFACTION: sense of completing a task well (Mat 25:23).

Seek satisfactory closure for tasks. Make changes if you are not experiencing any satisfaction.

Study God’s Word for His advice on contentment and satisfaction.

Being satisfied does not always lead to contentment. Often it is dependent on someone else’s satisfaction of our work. No?

While I do like an appreciate comment occasionally, I remind myself that the real one I aim to please is Him.

Exactly. This is why Jesus promised his followers joy rather than happiness. Big difference.

I love the idea that our emotions are signals. We just have to be sure to turn when they first emerge or it’s way too easy to let them get us off track from what we are called to do. 🙂
