When things are ambiguous, people are unlikely to perform at their best. How can you lead through ambiguity? Here are some tips from Proverbs.
- Be absolutely clear on what is important to God. Live that out in your interaction with others regardless of uncertainty in the environment. (Pro 19:21)
- Lean on God and learn from mistakes. Consider that God may have put you in poorly-defined circumstances to make you stronger from the mistakes you will likely make. (Pro 3:5-6)
- Get feedback from trusted sources. Pick people who will tell you the hard truth in a way that conveys their support for you. (Pro 27:17)
- Know your organization’s mission. Focus on creating clarity regarding how your group can support the organization’s mission regardless of ambiguity in the environment. (Pro 4:25)
Persist in doing the right things for the right reasons.
