One factor that contributed to the longterm success of Moses was his willingness to listen.

Moses listened to the advice of Jethro:

• Keep your personal vision and mission constantly before God (Exo 18:19). 
• Invest significant energy communicating the vision (Exo 18:20). 
• Enlist capable people to assist you in the work (Exo 18:21).
• Delegate to those who could do the work well (Exo 18:22).
• Make yourself available as needed (Exo 18:22).

Tips to Delegate Effectively 

• Recognize the need to delegate (for the sake of others as well as yourself).
• Identify what you could delegate.
• Write a clear role description for the item to delegate (responsibilities, reporting structure, skills needed, resources available, schedule for reviews, limits of authority). 
• Delegate appropriate work to qualified people.
• Inform all those affected by the delegation.
