As a leader, it’s tempting to think that you have yourself under control. If David wasn’t able to do that on His own, how likely is it that you can?
- In Psa 19:7-8, David acknowledges that God’s Words make the simple person wise, enlightening his eyes.
- In Psa 19:9-11, David acknowledges that God’s judgments are altogether righteous and of more value than earthly treasures.
- Then in Psa 19:12-13, David asks God to cleanse him from his secret faults and not let his presumptuous sins rule him. David admits that only God can protect him from the great transgression (pride).
- Finally, in Psa 19:14, David asks that his words and thoughts be acceptable to God. He acknowledges that the LORD is his strength and redeemer.
As a leader, consider using these verses as a template in a prayer to God. Let Him know:
- how much you value His Word.
- that you need His help to protect you from pride.
- that you place yourself in His hands because He is your strength and redeemer.
Asking God to conquer self is the only way to keep yourself on the path He desires for you.
